How to make a Sonic cupcake?

Making a Sonic cupcake is a delightful way to bring the iconic blue hedgehog from the video game series into your baking!

Ingredients

For the cupcakes

  • Your favorite cupcake recipe (vanilla, chocolate, etc.)

For the buttercream icing

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2-4 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Blue food coloring

For the Sonic face

  • White chocolate or white candy melts.
  • Dark chocolate or black candy melts.
  • Red candy melts or red icing.
  • Blue sprinkles or blue sanding sugar
  • Small round candies (like M&M’s or Skittles) for the nose and eyes

Instructions

Bake the Cupcakes

Follow your chosen cupcake recipe. Once baked, allow them to cool completely.

Make the Buttercream Icing:

    1. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter until smooth and creamy.
    2. Gradually add in the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition.
    3. Add in the vanilla extract.
    4. Adjust the consistency of the icing by adding heavy cream or milk. If it’s too thick, add more cream. If it’s too thin, add more powdered sugar.
    5. Once you’ve achieved the desired consistency, add blue food coloring until you get Sonic’s signature blue color.

Decorate the Cupcakes

    • Spread or pipe the blue buttercream onto each cupcake.
    • Sprinkle some blue sanding sugar or sprinkle on the icing for some sparkle.

Sonic’s Face

    1. Melt the white chocolate or candy melts according to the package’s instructions. On a parchment-lined tray, pour the melted chocolate to form oval shapes for Sonic’s eyes. Allow them to set.
    2. Melt the dark chocolate or black candy melts. Use a toothpick or a fine brush to draw Sonic’s pupils on the white chocolate eyes.
    3. Place the white eyes on the cupcake.
    4. Use the same dark chocolate or black candy melts to draw Sonic’s mouth.
    5. Place a small round candy on Sonic’s nose.
    6. If you’re using red icing, pipe two small horizontal lines above the eyes for Sonic’s eyebrows. Alternatively, you can also use red candy melts.

Your Sonic cupcakes are now ready! Adjustments and enhancements can be made based on personal creativity and preferences. Enjoy!
